We are in for some major changes to our value systems this month as Uranus makes its way into Taurus for the first time in 80 years. The last time Uranus was in Taurus was from June through October of 1934 and then steadily from April 1935 through May 1942. During this time-frame the United States went off the gold standard, the banks closed and the depression set in. The values in materialism (Taurus) were challenged (Uranus) as never before. Now I’m not saying that is exactly what’s going to happen, but, if you’ve been paying attention for the past few years, the banking system is certainly in trouble. Unfortunately this cosmic enema is very much needed folks because the whole monetary system is one big ponzi scheme waiting to collapse.
Transiting Uranus acts to disrupt, change, and re-do whatever it touches. Uranus frees us from thinking inside the box, and offers us opportunities for reaching out and trying something completely new. We’ll see major disruption to our beliefs about money, the value of things, and how we exchange value for one another. Unexpected changes, surprises, reversals, discontentment, and a break from the safe and predictable characterize this transit of Uranus. On the positive side, they’ll be more excitement, electric aliveness, inspiration, and life-supporting change. Wild and out-of-the-blue opportunities can arise out of nowhere and will be hard to resist. Letting go of old conditioning will be the theme over the next seven years, words like freedom, liberation, and awakening will become the norm.
Uranus will enter Taurus on May 15, 2018 and stay there until November 6, 2018, and then retrograde back into Aries until March 6th 2019, after that it will remain in Taurus until April 26th 2026. During this transit we are going to see global transformation affect not just currency (Taurus), but also every aspect of your money, house, apartments, business or possessions you can think of. For those that are paying attention to what is going on behind the scenes, we’re seeing the beginnings of a revolution in money with the arrival of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies and competing currencies that are on the horizon. Over the next seven years there will be major disruptions to the currency regime of the world. Many astrologers expect that the U.S. dollar, the reserve currency of the world, will collapse during this period. The Chinese Yuan appears poised to take its place, but the gyrations of Uranus are unpredictable so we’ll just have to wait and see.
Astrologer Jessica Adams wrote: “What’s the context of Uranus in Taurus from 2018 through 2026? The end of old government and business systems. The end of the banks as we know them. Perhaps, the end of the worldwide taxation system as we know it. Why? Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn are all passing through Capricorn at this time, and Capricorn rules the people at the top. The people in suits and ties at the top of the tower. Those high-rise blocks – the skyscrapers – are a symbol of the mountain upon which Capricorn the mountain goat perches. We’re not talking about the basement here. We’re talking about the penthouse. The jaw-dropping combination of Saturn, Pluto, Ceres and Jupiter in Capricorn 2017-2020 is going to utterly transform the structures (corporate, political) but also the actual structures themselves. The mountains which the ambitious goats climb.”
As the month of May begins the Sun continues to transit steady Taurus suggesting we get back to the basics, but as you could see from the paragraphs above, this won’t be the ordinary month of May that we’re use to. Our minds will certainly be on money, values, and possessions especially on May 13th as Mercury makes its way into Taurus is well. While Mercury is in Taurus, we’ll be flexing our mental muscles through a sign whose energy focuses on the physical things of the earth. Strength, land, possessions — all solid, stable, material things. You can touch them. They endure. They feel heavy. So when the planet of reason moves into this realm, the thinking process is slowed. We need to “think things through” more. Answers do not come through quickly.
A few days later on May 15th the Taurus New Moon is the perfect time to focus our attention on getting back to the basics of life. Normally this time of year it’s all about the simple pleasures and activities. The sensual Taurus nature is all about our physical reality and enjoying the simple things in life. “Stop and smell the roses” is the theme during this lunation along with re-evaluating our relationships with money and possessions and discovering what is it that makes us truly happy and fulfilled. But will be thinking outside the box later in the evening when Mars enters Aquarius. With Mars, the planet of energy and drive, in an Air sign for the next six weeks our minds will be drawn to the unusual and strange. Mars in Aquarius is all about mental and intellectual pursuits.
We’ll be feeling a bit nostalgic on May 19th when Venus enters the security-driven sign of Cancer. When Venus, the goddess of love, moves into the sign of home and hearth, this brings us a time to relax and enjoy the people and parcels of home. Cancer is a sensitive, caring sign, a sign where the Venusian energy is easily expressed. Empathy comes freely and there is a real desire to provide nourishment to those around you while feeing safe and secure. Our minds turn overly active on May 20th when the Sun enters curious Gemini. When the Sun moves into the mutable, air sign of Gemini, which is ruled by the planet Mercury, its energy is flexible, quick, and filled with inquisitiveness. Gemini is about ideas: talking about them, thinking about them, swirling around in them. While the Sun, whose energy defines life itself, is traveling through this world, we really need those facts, figures and trivia. We thrive on variety and thirst for change.
Optimism and spirituality increase on May 26th as transiting Jupiter trine Neptune. Jupiter is about faith, expansion, trust, abundance. Jupiter wants you to be “bigger” than you are – to expand past your existing boundaries. Neptune is about the dissolution of boundaries, beyond, selflessness, idealism, illusion, dreams. Neptune wants to dissolve the ego to lift you to something higher. During this transit we are encouraged by hope, generosity and community spirit. We undertake a spiritual quest to seek the truth. There may be destined encounters with priests, gurus, psychics, or even your friendly astrologer. Others may just spend time in mediation for spiritual guidance or awareness. Since both these planets are in highly intuitive signs, (Scorpio & Pisces) enlightenment can come through dreams, visions or reflection.
The optimism continues on May 29th as this month’s Full Moon occurs in the positive sign of Sagittarius. Full moons tend to be emotional energy but Sagittarius is a happy sign, so Sagittarius full moons tend to be a little less serious and intense than the rest. During this lunation we may see something having to do with learning or travel, important legal decisions or situations, or something that impacts the international community, all ruled by Sagittarius. We may be more passionate about our beliefs, defending them and standing up and speaking out. This Full Moon in Sagittarius appears to be a good continuation of the new Uranus energy – Uranus also loves a good humanitarian cause!
Our conversation level get turned up another notch later the same day as mental Mercury enters the talkative sign of Gemini. When Mercury moves into Gemini, words start flying by every means possible. This is when the phone starts ringing off the hook and we’re all talking at once. We are especially communicative, curious, and sociable during this transit. Mercury feels right at home in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic. We are especially astute when it comes to arguing or making a point. We are attracted to wordplays, puns, and negotiations, unfortunately, we can be easily distracted.
