Hi Friends,
Strap in because we have some strong cosmic energy this month. Its Aries season and that means action, new beginnings, pioneering spirit with a dash of spring cleaning thrown in for good measure. April will be quite a magical but intense time. The first half of the month features the coming-together of several planets in Pisces. Venus being the first followed by Mars, however, we will also see Jupiter perfectly conjunct with Neptune in Pisces as well. These transits in particular are the reason we are more inclined to have a more imaginative and idealistic month.

We have three lunations in April making this a very high-strung emotional month filled with surprises and change. The month starts off with a New Moon and ends the month with a New moon also called a Black Moon. A Black Moon is a quirk of the calendar and not a special astronomical event or even something you can see. Unlike a SuperMoon, which is when the Moon is closest to Earth on its egg-shaped monthly orbit, and a Blood Moon, which is the colloquial term for a total lunar eclipse, a Black Moon is the result of the celestial mechanics and the Gregorian calendar not being at all in sync. Symbolically I think it represents an ominous feeling of change that’s in the air.

We start off April on a powerful note with some strong planetary energy. On April 1 the New Moon in Aries will be joined by Mercury and the Sun in the fire zodiac sign. The New Moon in Aries marks the beginning of a new cycle. The New Moon in Aries is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Ram. It’s time to take action – try something new and innovative, and go at it with gusto and confidence; be assertive without being abrasive; take charge of our lives; start a brand new project, and discover our own personal courage. This is a strong cycle under which to re-evaluate our relationship with ourselves. With this potent Aries energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and thus a New Moon in Aries is especially ripe with opportunity for new beginnings. We might consider acting on a constructive impulse and following a hunch or taking a risk.

On April 4-5, Mars (ruler of Aries) will conjunct restrictive Saturn in Aquarius causing some unexpected crisis within us or on the political stage. Transit wise, we go from the worst to the best in a flash, as the next day, April 6, Venus dips into Pisces. Venus is exalted here, meaning this is an extra auspicious time for love, romance and possibility financial matters. Whenever Venus moves into the compassionate sign of Pisces, we have some time to feel the purest kind of love – gentle, sympathetic with a need to give. We get a little soft in the heart and our focus shifts to caring for those who are unable to care for themselves. During the period that Venus spends in Pisces, we all have an opportunity to reach out and enfold our world with love.

On April 10, Mercury moves into realistic Taurus bringing with it a more grounded and sensorial vibe. While Mercury is visiting Taurus, we’ll be flexing our mental muscles through a sign whose energy focuses on the physical world; land, real estate, possessions — all solid, stable, material things that we can touch and that endure. They feel solid and real and bring us security. So when the planet of reason moves into this realm, the thinking process is slowed. We need to “think things through carefully”.

A magical alignment will occur on April 12 when Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces. Jupiter (the gift-giver) and Neptune (dreamer) go conjunct in Pisces, the sign both these planets rule. This is a day to dream big and seek spiritual transcendence. This rare transit is a good time for spiritual self-development because we can more easily understand esoteric principles. We can absorb a variety of broad concepts and abstract ideas then merge them into our philosophical or religious belief system. Travel, adventure, or spiritual groups may interest you but listening to your intuition will teach us plenty. Dreaming, meditation and psychic revelations may also help us grow spiritually. Having unrealistic expectations is a possibility with transit as we will generally be feeling optimistic and lucky.

On April 14, macho Mars moves into the emotional realm of Pisces as well. Mars is a fiery, energetic planet whose energy represents action and aggression. When it travels through the watery, mutable sign of Pisces, known for compassion and empathy, is not exactly a cup of tea for the God of War. In Pisces, Mars can come across as being passive, but that is not what’s going on inside. There are just different ways of being aggressive and strong. Mars in Pisces is not showy about it. He’s quiet and just carries a big stick. When it comes time for compassion, there is no one with greater energy to spend fighting for the underdog than Mars in Pisces.

Our relationships will be highlighted on April 16 when the Full Moon activates the sign of Libra. As with all Full Moons, this is a time when the Sun opposes the Moon and reflects upon each other. The Aries-Libra polarity is a relationship axis, where Aries represents “self,” and Libra represents “other.” Where Aries is about self-assertion, Libra is about compromise. With the Libra Moon, we’re especially aware of our need for relationships and all that comes with maintaining them — compromising, negotiating, graciousness, and balancing. The Aries Sun, on the other hand, is self-assertive, leading, and personally courageous.

This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between meeting our personal needs and attending to the needs of a significant other, and between independence or autonomy and dependence or companionability. The Libra Moon is diplomatic, equality-focused, and fair-minded. The Aries Sun values authenticity over tact and is energized by independent efforts. Unfortunately this Full Moon can illuminate conflict thanks to its square to powerful Pluto.

The disruptive energy continues on April 18 when the Sun squares Pluto and Saturn squares the Moon’s Nodes. These aspects tend to be prone towards power struggles, change, and breakdowns of all types including relationships. Sun square Pluto transit increases our need to be in control, but can also lead to ego conflicts with other powerful people or authority figures. A crisis or conflict with someone makes for an intense experience that can lead to extreme or destructive behavior. Such challenges can force us into a corner where we have to either defend our position or make a major change.

With Saturn squaring the Moon’s nodes we are heading in a new direction with great caution and awareness. Saturn rules our conditioning or the way we were taught and brought up in the world. It is associated with restriction and limitation but with this it brings structure and meaning to the world and our lives. It reminds us of our boundaries, responsibilities and commitments. Saturn’s lessons actually help us to grow. In your chart the position of Saturn reveals your limitations, fears and sense of responsibility.

The Moon’s Nodes are related to the subconscious, the domain of the Moon. Thus, the South Node represents subconscious motivations that stem from the past and to which there is an inner inclination to cling to that fades over time, while the North Node represents conscious motivation towards the present and future.

Our motivation shifts on April 19 when the Sun enters the sensual sign of Taurus. After a month of exuberant Aries, we are ready to slow down and enjoy the soothing sensations of Taurus. The seeds that were planted during Aries are starting to sprout. People are beginning to come out of their houses to enjoy the sunshine and getting out into nature. Taurus is a fixed earth sign that condenses and solidifies the fiery impulses generated during Aries. The energy of Taurus is receptive and feminine, steady, loyal, and determined. It waits for things rather than running after them. Taurus is ruled by Venus, so while the Sun is transiting this sign we can expect relationships dynamics to unfold and matters related to finance and belief systems.

Our mental and verbal skills increase on May 29 when Mercury enters the home sign of Gemini. When Mercury moves into Gemini, words start flying by every means possible. This is when the phone starts ringing off the hook and we’re all talking and communicating at once. Mercury feels right at home in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic. We are especially astute when it comes to arguing or making a point. Wordplays, puns, trivia, information tidbits, and negotiations are more attractive. We are able to mimic, quickly grasp, and decide promptly, and our observations are detached. Nervous energy is prominent, and we are easily distracted.

The main event of the month occurs on April 30 when the second New Moon of the month is also a Solar Eclipse in Taurus. This eclipse is the second in a Taurus-Scorpio set that began in November 2021 with a Lunar Eclipse in Taurus. It’s the first Solar Eclipse in Taurus in this set. A similar Solar Eclipse occurred on April 29th, 2014. An eclipse set along the Taurus-Scorpio axis most recently occurred from 2012 to 2014. Before that, it was from 2003-2004. It might help to think back to these periods and consider the themes that surrounded your life then, if relevant, to get a better understanding of what the current eclipse series might mean for you.

This Solar Eclipse features Venus in a tight conjunct with Jupiter in Pisces. Since Venus is the ruler of this eclipse, it’s particularly significant. This eclipse aligns with Uranus and harmonizes with Mars, and we can get off to a great start mentally as we embark on new beginnings.

Its effects can be felt for up to six months after the actual date of the eclipse. In the sign of Taurus, matters related to personal finances, values, ownership, physical and material resources, personal possessions, feelings of worthiness, desire for safety and security, resistance to change, comfort, sensuality, and familiarity will be a strong focus on a personal level. This eclipse is about new beginnings regarding all of these matters. Long-term changes are in the works.

This Taurus eclipse is about strengthening our sense of security. It is a time for re-evaluating our relationship with money and possessions and discovering what it is that truly makes us happy and fulfilled. It‘s also a period for considering new ways of increasing our income or earning power. New and potent energy is with us for taking charge of our personal possessions and finances. As I’ve mentioned before, this new Moon will be the beginning of a new worldwide currency system that is already showing up if you know where to look.
