Hi Friends,
I hope last month’s tidal wave of cosmic energy was put to some good use. The two very powerful eclipses marked a turning point in our evolution as they opened several doorways for necessary changes and setting meaningful intentions; so if you haven’t done so, there is still time to enact positive transformation this month. September is the time of year that many people associate with getting back on track. School is back in and the fun and freedom of the previous months start to fade into routine. Even though we tend to attribute this change in focus to things like school or weather change, there is really an astrological basis behind it all. In the months before September, personal planets tend to group in the sign of Leo, the ruler of fun, frolic, hobbies, and creative expression.
In the times, like this year, when much of the planetary Leo representation carries over well into September, the free schedule of fun can be hard to shake. So my recommendation to best flow with the energies this month is to bring creativity and the spirit of fun (Leo) to work and other duties (Virgo). Figuring out ways to better enjoy work, spruce up work space, and bring an uplifted attitude to mundane responsibilities are all great methods to beautifully blend the astrological opportunities into great outcomes. Prominent Virgo energies take over the scene as the month goes on. To best use these energetic potentials plan to do things that require focus and attention to details, involve organization and creating or adjusting effective systems and routines, give attention to pets or other animals, diet, exercise and other health regimens, medical diagnostic and procedures.
On September 5th we begin to focus and really clean up those loose ends as Mars enters meticulous Virgo. This is a period of having tremendous energy, albeit sometimes nervous and unsettling energy so pay attention to your body during this transit. The Virgo energy thrives on putting the pieces of the puzzle in the right order, while Mars provides us with the physical strength to do it. When the planet of war moves into the mutable earth sign of Virgo, we can move mountains as long as we pay attention to the game plan. A few hours after Mars enters Virgo, Mercury goes direct in Leo….Yeaaah! After spending some time rethinking our bold and grand ideas, we can now discover the missing pieces and know exactly what we need to do to get them into place. Just don’t let all that patting on the back go to your head. There will be plenty of work involved in making things happen as soon as Mercury moves on to Virgo.
This month we have a Full Moon in Pisces on September 6th. As with all Full Moons this is the culmination or “cresting point” of the 14 day wave cycle which begins with the previous New Moon cycle. Because Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, it represents a completion or realization cycle, therefore, this lunation, on a psychological level, is asking us to create boundaries for ourselves. “weed out” toxic people, places, and things from your life. If an old habit has become burdensome, let it go! Virgo encourages purity in mind, body and spirit. It discourages co-dependent behavior. If your environment is toxic, do something to clean it up. If your relationships are toxic, see where you can “clean them up”. Take a practical action, and take Responsibility for yourself. It will do a lot for your Spirit!
Ahh.. At last! We can finally get back to whatever we were doing before that return trip into Leoville. On September 9th Mercury finally returns to Virgo after a three week retrograde period. Perhaps we needed that time to remind ourselves why we are doing what we do in this world. But now it’s time to put some more little pieces into the puzzle. One of those pieces includes relationships and on September 19th, Venus enters Virgo as well. The energy of Venus is concerned with our social interactions. It tells us how much of a “team player” we are and how well we have mastered the art of diplomacy. It is all about the beauty and art and harmony we need in our lives. And, it is about the love we have to give one another. With Venus moving into “pick-it-apart” Virgo, don’t expect to find anything you like for a while.
Here she will focus her many talents on analyzing every aspect of the relationships in her life. She needs to know all the details and understand why. The thought of letting her feelings just flow never really enters the picture. She’s too busy picking them apart. Fitting the pieces of the puzzle together is much more interesting. We focus our attention on being realistic on September 19th as this month’s New Moon is in the analytical sign of Virgo. The New Moon in Virgo symbolizes “separating the wheat from the chaff”. This is a month to be particularly discriminating about what ideas, information, and values you allow into your life, for Virgo is a very practical sign. It’s not only about criticizing what we don’t like, it’s about figuring out what you do want and then taking the responsibility to manifest it in your life. If you don’t, someone else will step in to fill the void and take that choice away.
A few days later (September 22nd) the Sun enters Libra on the day of the autumnal equinox, when the Sun is half way around the zodiac and the days and nights are equal. There is as much of the journey left as has already been traveled. We can look as far into the past as we can into the future now. Libra, sign of the scales is all about weighing and balancing everything to insure equality and fairness. During this month, our efforts are focused on creating and maintaining harmony – in our surroundings, in our relationships, in our words and deeds. To that end, we avoid confrontations, we look at both sides of every issue, and above all, the colors have to match of course.
The planet of power, transformation, and absolute intensity, Pluto, moves turns direct on September 28th once again. You may not fully feel this unless you have something from 17 to 19 degrees of the Cardinal or Earth signs. When Pluto changes direction, it’s similar to a slow, seismic shift; profound, but not immediately apparent unless you’re right on top of it. Every time Pluto goes direct it feels like we are at the start of the next phase in our lives. It’s a subtle feeling but becomes apparent after a period of time. Pluto’s journey through the sign of Capricorn, until 2024, will be the subject of aging. Material resources, money, the way we deal with power, our desire for status, and our response to security issues will be paramount in our conscious and unconscious thoughts. We will have choices to make on September 29th when Mercury enters fair-minded Libra. As Mercury moves through Libra, having to choose one alternative over another becomes very troublesome. The thought of leaving something or someone out….well, heaven forbid! While Mercury is in Libra we’ll all be looking at both sides of everything to be sure we are doing the right thing. If you don’t expect to come to any conclusions in a hurry, you will get along better with the energy of this air sign. Oh, and whatever it is, you will have to look good while doing so.
