November 2017 Astrology Newsletter & Video Horoscopes

The slow transformation continues this month as several planets make their way through Scorpio, the sign that represents death and rebirth. We’ve all been sensing these changes on some level, it almost feels like were going through troubled times, but I can assure you that this is all part of this transformation. Fortunately, November finally seems to be a reasonable month. What’s more, it brings luck, satisfactions, and renewals to many. One of the most significant aspects of this time frame is the alignment between Saturn and Uranus. The combination favors reforms, renovations, readjustments, the building of the new on the solid foundations of the past. It brings controlled changes, strategic ones, but can also come with sudden novelties.

On a macro scale, it encourages the refreshing of political views and of political leadership. The aspect is active throughout November and it helps those that have been thinking about changing something in their lives for a while, particularly so if they’ve worked on the plan of action beforehand.  Also this month there happens to be one of the happiest aspect of the year: the Venus-Jupiter conjunction that promises harmony and prosperity, fun and love, luck and success in areas ruled by the area of your birth chart. Either way, these two planets are considered very beneficial in astrology; it’s a benefic aspect by and large. It attracts optimism, benevolence, and contentment, is a good tiding for engagements, weddings, festivities, parties, vacations, and travels. Overall, it’s good for cooperation, negotiations, conventions, and treaties.

On the other hand, the square between Mars and Pluto can create moments of tension, trigger stubbornness and egos, and can intensify the struggle for power and control. Considering the fact that the other aspects of November have a positive effect, but are not that dynamic in nature, this square – even if it seems belligerent – might turn out to be the spice of the month, because it can be motivating and push people out of inertia. Its negative side can be tempered via benevolence and patience. Last but not least, during the last part of this month Mercury makes a favorable trine with Uranus and a conjunction with Saturn, strengthening the effect of the Saturn-Uranus alignment and sealing it with some serious decisions that have long-term effects.

The astrology for November begins on November 3rd-4th with the Full Moon in Taurus. When the Moon is in Taurus, there’s a dedication to getting what we want as Taurus is oriented toward filling our needs directly. Taurus is uncomplicated and only desires the basic needs of life; food, touch, shelter, resources and satisfying its senses. Maybe some of these things are things that we always want, but while the Moon is in Taurus, we’re more drawn toward getting them. These are the things that will make us feel good in the moment. The sign of Taurus also represents our values, what we believe and in how we see others.  During this Full Moon we could find ourselves making changes to the people, situations and things that no longer matter to us.

On the positive side this lunation will be favorably aspected to spiritual Neptune where it will add an element of sensitivity, intuition, emotion and romance.  It will also be strongly influenced by the planet Venus since she is the ruler of Taurus. This planet of love is in the same place as the earlier New Moon on October 19th. This will enhance the good fortune of the New Moon later in the month and bring friendship, love and romance, but only if you are patient, open-minded and flexible.

We’ll have a chance to become more vocal on November 5th when Mercury enters Sagittarius.  Now we’ll get some decisions made! There’s no beating around the bush when Mercury moves through fiery Sagittarius. As the God of messages enters the sign of wisdom and philosophy, we all start thinking a little broader and smarter. Words will fly as Mercury’s winged feet combine with the prancing hooves of Sagittarius. For the next couple of weeks, refrains of “it’s the principle of the thing” will surely echo throughout the mountain tops. Just don’t shoot yourself in the foot over it.

We’ll start feeling more sexy on November 7th when Venus enters passionate Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio is perhaps one of the most sensuous and alluring of all planetary placements. Here our Lady of Love is more than at home giving physical expression to her deeply felt emotions. To pet and be petted is an absolute requirement. Scorpio is a fixed water sign, so when our feelings of love get combined with that energy, you can expect a pretty permanent attachment. Total obsession is more like it. All is well as long as the object of our affections returns the feelings with the same level of intensity. If they slack off just a bit, those amorous attentions can just as easily turn into jealousy and resentment. Venus in Scorpio does not let go easily, physically or emotionally.

On November 13th our luck changes as Venus conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio. Venus conjunct Jupiter brings the two benefics together which you would think could only be a good thing. This is true to a certain extent, but it really depends how these planets are configured in your chart. One thing this aspect will most probably bring (for better or for worse) is a very active social life. If you’re not hosting a lavish party then we may find yourselves going to them. This is a very popular combination where Venus conjunct Jupiter will be attracted to charismatic partners and usually be part of the glitterati, in whatever field we’ll inhabit. For the most part this conjunction indicates more benevolent, kind, sympathetic, and generous behavior. But we go to extremes in expressing these qualities and are indulgent with people even when they don’t deserve it. Brutality and vulgarity are intolerable during this transit.

This month’s New Moon on November 18th continues to highlight the Scorpio theme.  New Moons present opportunities to transform and change and this Scorpio lunation will do just that. This is the sign of death and rebirth, figuratively and literally, but with strong aspects with Saturn and Uranus these changes are almost guaranteed. The Saturn-Uranus trine is helping to make positive changes in our lives in response to the threats posed by climate change, governments, and any organized body that seems to have influence over humanity. This New Moon will help us to find practical and creative ways to save energy, while making our lives more efficient and productive. The other aspect to this lunation is the quincunx to unpredictable Uranus which can open the door to liberate a bunch of crazed lunatics, unconventional rebels and quiet outsiders.

With Uranus’s tight alignment to this New Moon there is a pathological need to shock and outrage. However Moon quincunx Uranus is often shy and uncomfortable with the notoriety the outrageous behavior brings. This New Moon will see some folk being branded as attention seekers, when all they are doing is being themselves. The roots of this seemingly bonkers behavior very often stems from upbringing. This New Moon will highlight the problems of alternative parenting, kids growing up feeling that they are unusually ‘special’ or conversely that they not worthy of nurturing because they are so outside the norm. Sometimes there is an odd mix of the two which leaves them feeling very insecure.

Our focus changes direct on November 21st when Sun enters adventurous Sagittarius. As we move toward the last month of the year, the Sun moves into Sagittarius, sign of the Centaur – half man and half horse. The man half aims his arrows high while the horse half carries him from one adventure to another. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign, full of energy and curiosity and a need to roam free.

While the Sun is in Sagittarius, we tend to focus on lofty principles and on enthusiastically leading the way. We want to share our profound wisdom with those around us — as long as they don’t try to tie us down. “Don’t fence me in” comes directly from the heart of Sagittarius.

    Hi Joseph,
Love how you articulate the stars! Want to comment on this posting-that my dad was a quiet man who had a out-of-nowhere temper; was a Saggitarius. As a child, I once asked him what his favorite song was and without hesitation, he answered “Don’t Fence Me In”. This struck me as strange, since he didn’t like to travel, worked at one job his entire career, and he always washed the car on Sundays. Gave me something to think about-now more than 50 years later.
