Hi Friends,
Here we are…finally, the last month of 2021. It’s been a roller-coaster ride of uncertainty and change as I mentioned at the beginning of the year. December 2021 is setting the stage for 2022 as a Solar Eclipse welcomes in the New Year with some optimism , A Venus/Pluto conjunction challenges power and relationships, and the final Saturn/Uranus square completes the United States gear up for our Pluto return on February 2022 (more on Pluto return in January 2022 Newsletter). The Saturn square Uranus has been present throughout the entire year of 2021. The overall theme of this transit has been restriction; limitations (think government mandates, (Saturn) and freedom, rebellion (think protests, people voicing outrage (Uranus). This final Saturn/Uranus Square requires we adapt to unexpected, life altering changes as a society and individually. At the end of the month Jupiter will bless us once again as it moves into spiritual Pisces and will remains there until May 2022.
As the month begins Neptune (planet ruler of Pisces) turns direct after it retrograded back on June 25th. With its direct motion in December we may begin to face some illusions we’ve held onto, confusing situations become clearer, and our creativity begins to soar, or at least, we are more inclined to apply our creativity in the real world. We have more faith in our own dreams and visions, in others, and in our belief systems. Increasingly, we seek inspiration from external sources….and speaking of inspiration; the last New Moon of 2021 (which is also a Solar Eclipse) will highlight the optimistic sign of Sagittarius on December 4th.
This Solar Eclipse is connected to the eclipse series that started way back on June 5, 2020. Those eclipses across the Gemini-Sagittarius axis began illuminating topics relating to information, philosophy, community, and expansion. There were six eclipses total in this series: previous dates include June 5, 2020; November 30, 2020; December 14, 2020; May 26, 2021; June 10, 2021. With this month’s Sagittarius eclipse now is a good time to look back and see how your beliefs and philosophy have changed. How has your life been transformed? What have you learned? Fundamentally, this final eclipse is about integrating that wisdom into your reality, so don’t be afraid to take a big bold step into the New Year!
On December 11th passionate powerful relationships are highlighted as Venus conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. Venus rules beauty, love and money. Pluto is concerned with power, the shadow of the collective, sex, exchange of energy, death, the unconscious and all things unfathomable. Capricorn is concerned with status and security, reality, integrity and karma. When you combine these things, you come up with some intense energy, it’s not all negative but it is all serious.
During this Venus Pluto conjunction our need for love, desire, affection, control, and passion are dramatically increased. We may want to experience companionship at a deeper and more intense level. This can lead to problems if you are single, but this transit can also throw a monkey wrench into the middle of a healthy relationship if you play your cards the wrong way. Since we are talking about both planets in Capricorn, we can see some major power plays in governments or in corporations at this time. Announcements like what we are witnessing in Australia where the military is now rounding up citizen because of the non-vaccinated disobedience. Other behaviors to beware of at this time are possessiveness and jealousy.
Fortunately, a few days later on December 13th, Mars leaves the penetrating sign of Scorpio and heads into the broad-minded sign of Sagittarius. When Mars transits Sagittarius our actions are motivated by our ideals. We will find ourselves involved in daily tasks and are not likely to be bothered to finish them on time. We will be more inclined to adventurous things and initiate projects or face challenges with gusto. Mars with Sagittarius’ vibes may make us super opinionated. We are likely to view our thoughts, feelings, and experiences intensely and will not feel hesitant to speak our minds or offer unwarranted advice. This fiery, upbeat transit of Mars in Sagittarius is the perfect way to start off the year if you can balance drive and stamina with focus and dedication, then nothing can get in your way.
On December 18th, a Full Moon occurs in the sign of Gemini. It’s the first lunation in Gemini in a while that isn’t an eclipse. This Full Moon can bring sudden awareness to our lives and a rather urgent “need to know.” We may want to get an important message across, finish a communication project, or make an announcement. Travel and communications are in strong focus during this lunation.
On December 19th, Venus turns retrograde at 26 degrees of Capricorn and will remain retrograde until January 29th, 2022. This retrograde gives us the chance to look over and review our affections, relationships, and finances. We may question a current project or commitment during this cycle. Retrograde Venus affects us mainly in the areas of love and finances but also extends to some areas of business and pleasurable pursuits. These matters are not straightforward during this period, and it’s a time for reviewing our attitudes and attachments rather than forging ahead boldly into new love relationships or financial projects. Old friends and lovers may reappear, perhaps complicating current relationships, or we may be reminiscing about past conditions more often. There can be a call to deal with relationship issues from the past. It can be a real challenge getting closer to a lover during this period.
It’s time to prepare for the Winter Solstice (northern hemisphere) on December 21st when the Sun enters Capricorn. As the Sun moves into the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn, we feel the calming energy of the earth and the need to take care of business. During this month, we’ll feel the urge to get started on practical, heavy duty projects. This is a serious, no-frills kind of energy. A sense of being responsible and reliable fills the air. We become cautious and keenly aware of the need for safety and security. The sign of Capricorn relates to the process of managing things — businesses, projects, and people. It’s the director, putting all the pieces in the right places. The payoff is big if you do it right.
On the December 24th, the last Saturn Uranus square could generate some friction. This transit is the final of three exact aspects, the first and second of which occurred in February and June. At the root of tension is a clash between our desire for freedom and spontaneity and our need for structure and stability. Ideally, we can find creative ways to satisfy these diverging needs, perhaps by giving form to our ideals and quest for progress. We have an unusual situation where Saturn, the conservative planet, is in a progressive sign, Aquarius, while Uranus, the progressive planet, is in a conservative sign, Taurus. At times, these energies can feel oppressive, and we might feel that we’re all too often at cross-purposes with others, even when the end game is similar.
And last but not least, On December 28th, Jupiter re-enters Pisces. Jupiter first entered Pisces from May 13th and stayed there until July 28th, 2021. This time around it will now be there until May 10th, 2022, and later from October 28th to December 20th, 2022. Jupiter will complete its transit of Pisces in 2022. This transit encourages us to give of ourselves and to embrace compassion and imagination. With Jupiter transiting Pisces, we attract luck and rich life experiences through our intuition, imagination, and kindness. We’re charitable, and we look out for the underdog. We are more idealistic and perhaps less ambitious in a worldly sense, more motivated to give than receive. Jupiter in Pisces encourages us to attend to our needs for gentleness, understanding, and empathy. Certainly, we should watch for escapism, bending personal philosophies or morals to suit the situation, deception and self-deception, restlessness and vague discontent, and unwillingness to face problems or negative situations directly. The theme of this transit is ‘Follow Your Dreams”
Happy New Year Folks!
